As a yoga practitioner, I comprehend how important a yoga mat is for me. Without it, I can’t perform my varied yoga asanas well. So, I focus on the quality and design whenever I buy a yoga mat for myself.

Keep in mind that the quality of yoga mats is comprises of several other things like the materials used in production, thickness, length, colour and allied things. And so, you need to consider about all these things while purchasing the best mats for your practice. 



For the best mat, the materials used in production play a very important role. So, you should know the materials that are used in designing and manufacturing mats. The materials commonly used in mat production are cotton, PVC, natural rubber and Eva foams. These materials come in varied standard and so, you need to know the quality of the material used in the yoga mats that you are going to purchase.

The thickness of a mat is essential. A thicker yoga mat can help you stay protected from the jerks and getting injured. The thickness for yoga mats ranges from 4 to 14 mm. It would be better for you to select the mat as per the intensity of yoga practices. Its length is very important. The length should be in accordance with your height. It should be so long that your entire body can lie on it. No body part can go outside of the mat.

Design and colour are not so important to consider while purchasing yoga mats. But you can consider. The colour of your yoga mat should be the one that can make you feel calm, peace and soothing. You can go for the one in green, blue, etc. At last, you can think about the cost in your purchase. But it is advisable that you should never compromise with the quality of your yoga mat.
